Tom Pauk

Tom is a solicitor (latterly non-practising) who worked in financial and commercial law Photograph of Nigel Shore, Operations Director of the Hybrid Breeders Association (HBA)for 25 years until July 2016. He was Director and Deputy General Counsel at the investment bank Citigroup Global Markets from 2001 to 2016, having worked previously in private practice at the global law firm Allen & Overy as a banking and capital markets lawyer.

Tom has a BA in English and Drama from Exeter University and a MA in Theatre Directing from the University of California, Berkeley. Having inexplicably failed to be discovered as an actor and director, he switched to the law in his late twenties. Outside of his professional work, Tom was trustee and chairman of the Mayhew Animal Home in North London from 1995 to 2011, one of the country's leading animal rescue and rehoming charities.

Since his retirement from the City, Tom has been pursuing a number of interests including work in prisons as an official prison visitor and as a mentor of young offenders preparing for their release; is involved with Bounce, a new dementia charity that is introducing a revolutionary table-tennis table and other games into care homes for people with dementia; and is a qualified Listener at The Listening Place, a befriending charity in London for people with chronic depression and suicidal thoughts that grew out of the Samaritans. Tom also writes plays for radio and stage and is currently working on his first screen play.

Tom is responsible for commercial and compliance aspects of the business.

The Hybrid Breeders Association (HBA) is a voluntary registration service for hybrid dog breeders in the UK.  Our goal is to promote responsible breeding of hybrid dogs, exercising the highest standards of animal welfare and raise public awareness of the basic precautions that should be taken when buying a puppy.
