Meet the Leadership Team responsible for achieving our goals



Jules Hamilton


Jules founded the Hybrid Breeders Association in order to promote ethical and responsible breeding of healthy dogs - whatever their breed.


She is passionate about the welfare of dogs, and about raising awareness of unethical and unscrupulous puppy breeders,  puppy farms and puppy importers.

Emma Johnson

(Grad Dip VN (clinical & professional studies), Dip AVN (Medical), RVN, A1)

Emma has been in veterinary nursing for 20 years. In 2006 she was offered the role of Head Nurse at Fitzpatrick Referrals, where she stayed for 10 years leading a team of 70 nurses and auxiliaries.


In 2014 she became Regional Coordinator for veterinary nurse training in Surrey for the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA).

Emma Warren-Brown

(BSc Hons)

Emma started her career as a lecturer in 1999, specialising in Animal Science and Welfare.   She appeared on Channel 4’s It’s Me Or The Dog as Britain’s leading dog intelligence expert, and also featured on BBC Radio’s The Barking Hour launching the Pet Alert Scheme.  She has a passion for promoting animal welfare.

Di Herrett


Diane has over 25 years experience of people facing roles. She worked for over a decade at Fitzpatrick Referrals, gleaning a wealth of experience in small animal Rehabilitation.

She is also a volunteer Home checker re-homing rescue dogs..

Stephanie Graham

(BSc Hons)

Stephanie is first and foremost an animal lover with a passion for the natural world.  This led her to study Biology and Zoology at Southampton University where she gained her BSc Honours.

Her experience in media, together with a passion for the well-being of animals is a key part in driving the HBA message forward and developing our dedicated YouTube channel, Podcasts and Forums.

Stephanie GrahamNew Media Director 



Laura Jack


Laura is currently studying BA Hons degree in Graphic Design at the University of Suffolk.

As part of her studies, she is an active member of a team which has been pitching for work in the industry, several of which have been successful - in particular a branding contract which is now in use worldwide.

Lorna Patelaros


From a young age the only thing Lorna wanted to be was a Vet.  She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College London in 2003. She worked in Mixed Practice in Hampshire for 3 years before spending 9 months travelling and working in Small Animal Practice in New Zealand.

Tori Simpkins

(BSc Hons)

Victoria worked as a kennel assistant at Fitzpatrick Referrals during her late teens whilst studying Fine art, English Literature and Sociology. She went on to study at the University of Roehampton and received a Ba Hons in Creative Writing.


Tori is our Press Officer, looks after our Digital Marketing and .

Tom Pauk


Tom worked in financial and commercial law for 25 years until July 2016.


He was Director and Deputy General Counsel at the investment bank Citigroup Global Markets from 2001 to 2016, having worked previously in private practice at the global law firm Allen & Overy as a banking and capital markets lawyer..

Nigel Shore

(BSc Hons)

Nigel has worked as a Change Manage-ment specialist for over 30 years, mostly in the Financial Services sector in the City of London - for large corporate companies such as NatWest, Barclays, Merrill Lynch, Lloyd's of London, Zurich and Capita.


Nigel is responsible for the operational side of the business, and driving the team towards achieving its goals.

Vanessa Dyer

(VN, Cert. Ed)

Vanessa worked as a veterinary nurse in mixed animal practice for over 22 years.

Following this, she spent 14 years at Merrist Wood College in Surrey where she gained extensive experience in teaching.
